Apple launches iOS 18 with major FinTech updates

Apple released iOS 18 today, introducing several significant FinTech updates. The new 'Tap to Cash' feature allows users in the U.S. to send and receive Apple Cash by simply holding two iPhone devices together, eliminating the need to share phone numbers. Apple Pay gains greater flexibility, enabling users to view and redeem rewards, and access installment loans from eligible credit or debit cards during online and in-app purchases. Initially, these features will roll out in the U.S. with Discover and Synchrony, and expand to other markets with banks like ANZ in Australia, CaixaBank in Spain, HSBC and Monzo in the U.K., and Citi and Synchrony in the U.S.

Enhanced event tickets in Apple Wallet now provide a more immersive experience, showcasing maps, parking details, in-seat food delivery options, and more. While iOS 18 launches without Apple Intelligence, this feature is expected to debut in October with iOS 18.1, exclusively for the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 16 models.
